I Started Rogue

I’m sure I am one of the last knitters in the world to knit Rogue, but what can I say? Better late than never, right? I’ve had the pattern forever and the yarn for … awhile. I bought it for a great price from Webs some time last winter. Anyway, after the lace didn’t work out I decided it was time to knit myself a sweater. The Butterfly fans out there will be asking why I started something new when I have a perfectly good sweater on the needles and I really don’t have an answer except that I wanted to. I do believe it is a knitters prerogative to abandon (temporarily) a perfectly good sweater project in exchange for a different sweater project.

So, here is the progress I’ve made on Rogue in a little over a week.

Rogue

I just divided the sweater for the armholes and have started the decreases on the back. That’s the good news. The bad news is that I’ve put Rogue on hold while I knit a pattern for Yahaira’s new book. She has a designer that has more than one pattern in the works and didn’t have time to knit a sweater for the book. So, I agreed. It’s a lovely lace pattern in the most wonderful yarn and I’ve promised to finish it by the first part of September. I’m keeping Rogue in a basket close to the couch because it is a nice change of pace from small needles and lace (yeah, the sweater is lace) and I sneak in a row or two every now and then. It will be awhile before it’s cool enough for a thick wool sweater, but fall is fast approaching. I’m afraid winter will be arriving long before I’m ready.

I was just starting to get worried about you! (Check my blog’s new button, you fiend!) And, no, you aren’t the last to do Rogue. (Hand waving over here on the right coast…..)

  2. Carole

    I love the color!

  3. Queue

You’re not the last one . . . I’m still in the “I’m going to do that, someday” stage.

  4. Kaitie Tee

I’m the same as Queue. I’ve had the pattern and yarn for Rogue for about a year and a half. But I keep getting distracted with new patterns.

Ahh…Rogue! I love the color you are using. I haven’t knit that one yet either but someday I will. (I admit I am a Butterfly fan but if you aren’t feeling it, then you aren’t feeling it!)

    Yay for Rogue!

Being one of the Butterfly fans, I’m digging deep to try to find the will to heckle you about starting a new sweater. However, even more than being a Butterfly fan, I am a BIG fan of the colour brown, all the more when it’s all flecky and tweedy. So go. Knit your Rogue in peace.

love the tweedy cables. this sweater has been on my list forever and somehow keeps getting pushed back….

I own the yarn for Rogue, but still haven’t purchased the pattern. So no, you are not the last. I probably will be. And it’s always okay to start whatever strikes your fancy. Though since I have over 30 projects that have been started and are not yet completely finished, I’m probably not the best influence there!

Ooh–Rogue is a beautiful pattern; I’ve always admired it. You’ve made a lot of progress for just over a week! It looks terrific already! And the color is nice and tweedy–I like the colored flecks!

There must have been something in the air. I’ve started flirting with Rogue again. I’m swatching (read knitting a sleeve in each yarn). I figure one for my sister and one for me!

I love your Rogue, and I haven’t started mine, either. I have the pattern but no yarn. Keep on knitting.

Is the piece for Sensual Knits or is Yahaira doing another new book?

  14. Lolly

This is beautiful, Stephanie. I love the yarn and pattern combinationl!

Yet another who has the pattern, but not the yarn. must…not…start…new…project…

I remember when you got the yarn, but could you remind us of the specifics? It’s beautiful.
