Storage Idea
I had a brilliant moment on the way home last night. I don’t have those moments very often, so I try to pay attention when they happen. I had just used the last mint in my little Icebreakers Sours container and I was going to throw it away.

Then it dawned on me that it might have another use. Look at what needs a little organization

And look at how organized those little stitch markers are in their new case.

The great thing is that the lid snaps shut so you don’t have to worry about the stitch markers spilling. The lid also flips open and it’s easy to get your fingers in there and get a stitch marker. Plus, it’s small and thin enough to fit nicely into my little notions bag.

Best of all, it was cheap.

I have my point protectors in an Altoids gum case. Very handy!

Dale is addicted to Altoids and he saves all his tins for me. I use them for stitch markers and T-pins and safety pins and whatever else I can think of!

I use the Altoids mints, Altoids gum and another mint container (can’t remember the name) for storage. My favorite is my Hubba Bubba metal box that all my point protectors are in. I’m always looking in the candy aisle for new containers.

Great Idea, My husband eats them all the time. I don’t have thoses moments often either. The last one I remeber is that the mini M&M containers are great for quarters (about $10 buck worth) at the laudry mat during my apartment days.

and yummy to get the container empty. I have the same container in my purse and was going to put it to a similar use.

Just don’t forget what you put in there, and pop one in your mouth! (Sounds like something I would do…………)

Very useful. You’ve got quite a collection of stitch markers. I always think I should get more but then I decide to spend on yarn instead.

I just love those little tins and keep them around ‘just in case’ I need one for my knitting bag. I think I have more tins than any other thing in the bag!

Republic of Tea travelers’ tins are great, too.

Looks great! Do your stitch markers smell sour now? My mom used to store our legos in a big industrial size pickle jar and they smelled all pickley. Now I associate pickles with building legos. Sorry, that veered into “random” real quick! I also use an Altoids box to organize my ponytailholders and barrettes.

Great re-use of an object! Your bright idea deserves a pat on the back.

I use those metal Altoid tins, but they don’t snap closed. These sound better.

I have a little round Tinkerbell tin that I purchased in Disney World full of mints for the express purpose of emptying it and filling it again with stitch markers ;o)

what an awesome idea! makes me want to dump my mints out right now, but I also have mine on a big baby diaper pin so they are sort of organized.
