Proof of Life

It has been suggested that you might need proof that I am actually working on the long standing (never-ending?) Butterfly sweater.  So, I’m here to oblige.

She Lives

For those of you who are keeping up, a brief search through the blog archives (and this is why I love having a blog!) reveal that I swatched for Butterfly in February … 2006!  Wow.  Almost four years and it will probably be longer than that before I get done.  I’m getting closer, but there is still some armhole length and neck shaping and then steeking and button/armhole bands to knit.  Oy.  I may never get done.

But, I have the armhole shaping done and now just need more length.

This sweater may be proof that slow and steady does win the race.  However, I really wish I hadn’t put it aside so many times over the years because then I’d be done and I would be knitting something new.  I still think it’s an enjoyable knit, but it takes forever to see any progress.  I just have to keep reminding myself that in this instance especially it’s about the process and the finished sweater will be worth the years and the work.

Happy Monday!

Hey! My Butterfly Buddy! I’m glad you’re still working on it. I need to find mine (in storage due to pregnancy 3yrs ago and never brought back) I wonder if it would still fit?

I guess I’m satisfied with the proof. :)

you’ll get it done before you know it! just think of all the fun projects you can start once this beast is done.

I KNEW I remembered that sweater from a really long time ago! But don’t worry… we’ll bug you incessantly so it won’t take another 3 years to finish.

Hahahaha, I didn’t suggest it, but I did wonder about Butterfly recently. I admire your persistance — I would have given up by now for sure. It looks good!

It’s just one of those things. You’ve got to knit to get it done!

Hey, butterfly is getting there! Just think how impressed people will be when you wear it (someday!) and reveal it took years to knit :-)

I blog-hopped onto your blog (hope you don’t mind) and I’m so glad I did! I just love it! I vowed in the year 2010 to dedicate one week to teaching myself how to knit (I crochet like mad. Mad.) and that week is the first one in February. I bought myself a little book that came with needles and stuff, but I’m really clueless, somewhat apprehensive, and a little excited about the whole thing. Seeing this post makes me feel like I can do it. I can. And I will…

Thats beautiful. I would love to be able to pick up and put down a knit like that but I just lose track!
