My KnitPicks order came last night. The merino style feels yummy and I can’t wait to get started on the legwarmers. Tonight I need to figure out the pattern – length and leg measurements so when I finally get my needles I can do a gauge swatch and get started. We are definately going to Denver tomorrow and I’m like a kid on Christmas Eve – I can hardly concentrate on anything but my trip!
I finished the pink scarf. I ended up having some of the bow yarn left so I made fringe. What do you think? It ended up being pretty long (I forgot to measure it), but it’s long enough to wrap around my neck one time and still have really long tails. It’ll be off to its new home before long – another little chick leaving the nest. (Sniffle, sniffle)

In other news, my husband is one funny guy. We had a rather serious discussion this morning while we were making the bed about who was hogging the covers and why (read: I was because I was cold). I quite sweetly told him that if he’d snuggle with me, I wouldn’t need more than my share of covers. His response was, “You came to bed late and the statute of limitations had run on snuggling.” (the lawyer in me giggled like a little girl). Isn’t he the cutest? While some of you might think, what’s the big deal, you really have to know my husband to appreciate these kind of comments.
I hope to have lots to show from my yarn store trip. Have a great Friday!

Your Fresh, Hot Pictures! (They aren’t really hot, nor even especially good, but I couldn’t resist the title)
I’m really bummed. I was just sure that my KnitPicks order would be waiting for me when I got home last night, but it wasn’t. Maybe tonight. It was shipped last Thursday so I would think it would be showing up any day now. I can’t start the legwarmers until Sunday any way because I don’t have the needles I need (and I have to finish the scarf). I ended up cancelling my order from JKL Needles because she hadn’t shipped it yet (the original dpns and a substituted size 3 dpns) and I wouldn’t have them by the time I was ready to start my project. Oh well, I’m excited to go to Denver this weekend and I’m going to go a little bit out of my way to go to Shuttles, Spindles, & Skeins in Boulder. It sounds like they have lots of great yarn and were highly recommended by a KR member. Sock yarn and dpns are on my list. I can hardly wait!
The scarf is coming along. I like the colors – very pastel and girly. I hope the rolling is ok with the recipient. I kind of like it, but I’m kind of weird. What do you all think? I think it will be fairly long, but I’m not sure about fringe. Hmmm, I guess I’ll have to see what I have left for yarn when I get to the desired length (not that I have a clue what that is! I’m hoping it’s one of those you know it when you see it things).
I have BUTTONS! The wonderfully talented Jenn made them for me. Aren’t they cute??
Please feel free to take one for your blog if you so desire.
Today is the baby shower for the lady in my office. I made the baby blanket for her a while ago and have just been waiting to give it to her. I hope she likes it, but we’ll see soon enough.
I hope you all have a great day.

Ok – so I didn’t get pictures taken of the scarf. I know, I said I would, but I got too busy and didn’t have time. I’ll do it tonight. I promise (or at least I promise to try!). I wrapped the cami up in pretty springy paper (like the season, not a slinky) and will take it to mail today at lunch. It’s a little like sending your kid off to school (or how I imagine that would be since I don’t have kids). I sure hope that she’s liked and that she fits. Yikes. I’m also taking the skinny scarf to it’s new home tonight. Once again, anxiety. Hmm, do you think maybe I have issues?
The fabulous Sarah has offered to pick up the newest Phildar magazine for me in exchange for something she wants (yet to be decided) and Adele gave me a heads up about Knit ‘N’ Tyme, an online store where I can get the magazine with the English inserts. Thanks ladies, you’re the best!
The weather here sucks. It was -10 F this morning when I left for work. That is just too freekin’ cold to have to be out and about. The roads for the commute were icy and there was dense fog – just nasty I tell ya. I was wishing on the whole way to work that I had thought to be sick and stay home today. I really need to start planning ahead.
I ordered the dress for my bridesmaid stint in March. I hope it will be ok with the bride because I think she liked the other finalist better than the one I ended up choosing, but oh well. Hopefully all will work out. What do you think? It’s a 5:00 garden wedding and I thought the lace was pretty and springy (there’s that word again). Black was the requirement so this is my take on it. I hope it fits and that I like it. I’ll still have time to exchange it for a different size or the other dress if I don’t like it when it comes. Some days I so wish for a nice department store close to me (and a LYS, but that’s another gripe) so I could try things on before I buy them. Oh well, you have to play the hand you’re dealt. Living in rural America does have its benefits, but shopping just doesn’t happen to be one of them.
Have a great day.

Yesterday I fiddled around with the pink and green scarf. I’ve started it 3 times and think I’m happy with how it’s looking. My original plan was to use garter stitch so it wouldn’t curl, but when I started it I didn’t like how it looked. The yarn just didn’t look right so I ripped it out and started again in stockinette stitch. I liked how that looked, but wasn’t sure about the size 10 needles and the width I had chosen (it was about 5″). It almost looked too tight and kind of little girlish – not the look I was after. So, when I got home last night I ripped it out again and started in stockinette with size 15 needles and it is curling, as you would expect, but I like how it looks. Maybe this look is meant to curl – who knows (I could just be justifying to myself too). It’s about 4 inches, but curls up to be about 2 1/2. I’m hoping that I can get a longer scarf with the yarn I have (knowing that it won’t ever be 72″, but maybe 60″?), but probably won’t do fringe. I’ll post a picture tomorrow of what I have and get your opinions on it.
I think I mentioned that I really liked the superskinny scarf I made and I think I’m going to make one to go with my new coat. I think Manos Del Uruguay Multi might be a good fit. Do any of you know if they have a color that has some lavendar or iris in it? I looked at purl, but can’t really tell from the pictures. What else, let’s see… Oh ya, I’ve decided that I’d like to make my first pair of socks out of Koigu, but I have no idea what color. Travis wants to go to Denver on Saturday and I’m hoping I can get to a yarn store that carries it to pick out something that I like. I like this basic pattern, also from Koigu. Has anyone used it? Any thoughts?
I need to start thinking about things I’d like to make for spring, but it’s really hard when it’s 20 degrees and snowing. I saw some really interesting patterns on passioknit – Phildar. What do you know about them? It looks like there are a couple (or more than a couple) of sweaters that I would be interested in making, but I don’t know where to find a magazine and it appears that it might be in French (which isn’t gonna work for me). I also checked out Rowan’s new spring magazine and like a couple of things in there. Too many choices I guess and the whole snow thing. I’d like to actually look at the magazine in person before I decide. Maybe I could pick up a copy this weekend too.
The size 3 dpn I ordered from Needles! are backordered until some unspecified time. She sent me an e-mail yesterday asking if I’d be interested in a replacement, which I responded that I was, but I haven’t heard anything since then. I really want that stuff to get here because I’m going to be ready to start the legwarmers this weekend and won’t be able to without the size 3 needles – grrr! We’ll see what happens today.
I hope you all have a great day and that Valentine’s day was all you wanted it to be.

Well, I had quite a productive weekend. The karate tournament went surprisingly well – I ended up second in the kata competition and I won the sparring! Surprise, surprise. I have bruises all over my body, but it was fun.
I finished the cami and am quite pleased with it. I found a little mistake, but it was after I had washed it and I’m not ripping it out to fix it – hopefully no one will notice! Here’s a picture – disregard the ugly towel, it’s still drying. So, I’m checking that off my list. I also finished the super skinny scarf. What a quick knit. I didn’t really feel like I spent that much time on it yesterday because I ended up reading my lovely romance novel and doing some errands (more on that later), but still finished it at about 10:00 last night. The colors are darker than I wanted, but I couldn’t find the pastels so I went with the purple, electric blue, and hot pink (although the colors don’t come through in the photos). I hope the recipient likes it. I’m thinking that I need to make one for myself. Hmmm, another project? Now on to the pink and green fun scarf. I’m thinking of doing it in a narrow version too. Maybe not quite as skinny as this one (it’s only 2 inches wide), but I’m liking the skinny rather than the wide version. I’m going to play around with the yarn at lunch. I’ll let you know what I figure out. I hope my legwarmer yarn comes this week (they sent me an e-mail telling me they shipped it on Friday) because I’m going to be ready to start by this weekend. At this rate I might just get them finished while it is still cold and I need them. Here’s hopin’.
So, I had to go buy a Valentine’s card for my hubby and a couple of cards for a baby shower and Ash’s wedding shower. So, the outdoor store is on the same block as the Hallmark. Can you see where this is going? I’ve been wanting a down jacket for awhile – I actually asked for one for Christmas, but didn’t get one. Anyway, I’ve looked on line and haven’t found one that I absolutely loved, but I’ve been looking. I went in yesterday and they had two that I really liked. My plan was to look and find out what I like, look around and find out when this store was going to have a sale – comparison shop. The guy in the store says that the down just went off sale, but he’d give me either jacket at the sale price. I’m such a sucker I tell ya. The Patagonia jacket was a great color and the arms were really long – sold. I have absolutely no will power. The justification to myself is that I really do need the jacket and I got it at a good price (I probably could have done better elsewhere on the exact same jacket, but I really try to buy things locally if possible – and when I have a yarn store I hope other people will shop with me rather than online whenever possible). So, now I need a really great scarf to wear with my really pretty iris colored jacket (the good news is that this morning in a quick search I can’t find it cheaper than what I paid – actually everywhere has been quite a bit more. I’m feeling better and better!)
Have a great day!
